Powar is a term that was originated around 1993 or 1994 by Shawn Phase and Mike Taylor, as well as a fanzine/news zine that he circulated in his freshman year of high school at the now defunct Towson Catholic High School. This slang was a form of leetspeak that was used on many different online bulletin board systems (bbs') such as: Genesis, Otakuland, Digital Illusions, and Deluxe Accomidations. These bbs' mainly ran WWIV, or MajorBBS, but there were others such as Oblivion/2. it even worked its way into the title of Temp Sound Solutions popular video game cover cd series, now youre playing with powar.

the typical meaning of Powar is 'to overtake vehemently without force' but it can also be an exclimation of happiness or copacetic affirmation.

From Family Man (to Polaris): spizz has magic ninja powar.. he is a wise leader of the ninja clan "porn" 17-APR-96
