Originally known as the Mid-Atlantic Gaming Festival, MAGFest (Music And Gaming Festival) is an annual convention held in Virginia that celebrates video games and the corresponding culture that they create.

MAGFest's primary features are a large open video gaming room and video game concerts with game-inspired bands. Previous bands have included the Minibosses, Powerglove, the NESkimos, the Advantage, Chromelodeon, and other related artists. Other major attractors include guest speakers, a large LAN Party environment, a video room, and contests for name-that-tune, costuming, and more.

Bossies have since MAGFest 3 been the biggest collected group of people attending MAGFest. Everyone else are basically furry fags or OCRemixers

Because Bossies are made up of many different nationalities, the attendees at MAGFest have been very international thanks to the never ending spirit of Bossies. Bossies who have traveled to the various MAGFest have been:

Controversy

Minibosses fallout

Shortly before MAGFest 5, the Minibosses announced that they were planning on a short break, and stated that this would make them unable to play at the convention. MrMagFest felt that he had earlier gotten Minibosses word that they would perform the convention and vocally expressed his disappointment over the band's decision to skip the upcoming MAGFest and had a public fallout with the band. Things worsen when Minibosses decided to play at PAX, a convention in August, and also played an exclusive cover of Halo in sync with the recently launched Halo 3. MrMagFest again expressed disappointment over this, feeling a NES only band had sold out of their roots by covering a next-gen game song.

There are currently no plans for the Minibosses to play at MAGFest 7, However, the lineup has not yet been announced as of 20th of June, 2008.

Alcohol and Rape

MAGFest has always suffered problems with drunk attendees. Vandalism and general damage has been done to hotels, such as carving names on elevator mirrors, room damage and alcohol poisoning. It is stated stricly in the rules that bringing drinks into the conventions is strictly prohibited, however MrMagFest can often be found drunk in the convention area, and alcohol rules are taken lightly.

At MAGFest 5, Police got involved when a 16 year old girl reported a rape in her hotel room. It was later revealed to be not true and the girl had consented.
